X-Spectrum GmbH is a spin off company of DESY. We provide cutting-edge detectors for X-ray experiments at synchrotrons and beyond. We provide the LAMBDA system, a dedicated X-ray camera that is unique in its capabilities.

The position

We are looking for a Software/Firmware Engineer to strengthen our technical team. Your responsibilities would include:

  • Play a major role in bringing our current software architecture to the next level (C++, VHDL)

  • Create solutions that run within the resource-constraints of our existing modular cameras as well as for even faster upcoming cameras, that are developed together with the DESY research-center

  • Work closely together with DESY developers

  • Develop highly responsive, fast code, that handles data rates beyond 200 GBit/s

  • Maintain and improve our software reliability by having regular code-reviews and improved test coverage

Your profile

  • A technical background in firmware and software development, preferably BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience

  • Give reliable effort-estimates, you can adhere to

  • Experience with C/C++, Linux and VHDL

  • Experience with firmware development for high speed IO and networking (10 Gigabit Ethernet)

  • Experience with GIT or a comparable versioning system

X-Spectrum is located on the campus of the DESY research center in the beautiful city of Hamburg, Germany
